ABOUT THE STANDARDS PORTAL (关于中美标准信息平台)

The Standards Portal (www.standardsportal.org.cn) is an online resource designed to facilitate trade through increased transparency and engagement in standards, conformity assessment and technical regulations (SCATR).

The primary aim of the Standards Portal is to answer key questions asked by exporters:

  • What technical requirements must I meet to enter and succeed in a specific market?
  • How can I get an “early warning” on changes to the requirements of my target market?
  • How can I ensure that my company’s perspectives are heard and considered in the development of technical requirements and policies for my target market?

The Standards Portal was created through a partnership between the Standardization Administration of China (SAC), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and theNational Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which provided technical support to the launch and maintenance of this resource.

Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (SAC) is authorized by the State Council and under the control of AQSIQ to exercise the administrative functions and carry out centralized administration for standardization in China. While relevant administrative departments of the State Council and standardization management bodies of relevant sectors shall be assigned the responsibility of managing the work of standardization within their respective professional sectors. The administrative bureaus of standardization in the provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, cities and counties shall execute administration of the work of standardization together in their respective administrative regions. SAC administers the Quality and Techonolgy Supervision Bureaus at the provinc level. Goverment at eachlevel has standardization management bodies.

ANSI is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance U.S. global competitiveness and the American quality of life by promoting, facilitating, and safeguarding the integrity of the voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system. Its membership comprises businesses, professional societies, trade associations, standards developers, government agencies, and consumer and labor organizations.

Founded in 1901, NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Commerce Department's Technology Administration. NIST's mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve the quality of life.
